Networking group Business China and the Chinese clans tie-up
By

YOUNG Singaporeans hungry for a slice of the action in a booming China
will get a boost from networking group Business China and the Singapore
Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA).
Both organisations marked their collaboration to roll out
programmes that will help tertiary students and young professionals
venture into China by co-hosting a Chinese New Year reception on
Saturday.
The event at SFCCA's premise in Toa Payoh with Senior
Minister S. Jayakumar as the guest of honour, drew more than 300 guests
from both organisations.
The SFCCA is a 25-year-old umbrella body for 200 clan groups
while Business China is a non-profit organisation and brainchild of
Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew that was set up in 2007 to help
Singaporeans engage, learn and do business with a rising China.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, Mrs
Josephine Teo, an MP for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and chief executive
officer of Business China, highlighted three programmes that both
organisations will work on this year.
The first is a workshop that prepares tertiary students who
are going for immersion trips to China, by providing them with
information on the language, culture and social conditions in China.
