First Chingay carnival to be held

THIS year's Chingay Parade will take festivities to a new high. The People's Association (PA) announced on Monday that the first ever arts and cultural carnival will be held in conjunction with the annual Chingay Parade.
The PA's Got Talents! Celebrates Chingay event will take place on Feb 11 to 12, from 4pm to 11pm on both days.
The carnival aims to bring residents of all ages and races together to enjoy the vibrancy of community arts. It will also be an opportunity to showcase the PA's arts and culture courses and interest groups offerings.
Visitors can look forward to viewing artworks by residents and enjoying pre-parade performances.
Each day, 500 people will also get to savour the carnival's multi-coloured, signature mocktail while the brave-hearted may want to head over to Khmer Delight Restaurant's booth to sample fried crickets or tarantulas.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is shceduled to visit the carnival on Feb 11.
