A WOMAN whose dog bit a man on the right foot was fined $3,000 on Monday and ordered to pay a compensation of $2,000 to the victim.
Seet Su Ya, 25, who does administration work, admitted being the owner of a Japanese Spitz Cross named Niu Niu which caused injury to Mr Prathap Thamy, 24, near Lorong 5 Realty Park on April 8 last year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Grace Lim told the court that Mr Prathap, a student, was walking his two dogs at Lorong 5 Realty in Hougang that day when Niu Niu dashed out from an opened gate and attacked his dogs.
The victim tried to stop the attack by using his right hand and right leg. Niu Niu then bit him on his right foot before biting the victim's Labrador on its tail and the Jack Russeell on its neck.
Mr Prathap was given three days medical leave for his injury.
He was later admitted to hospital on April 24 when his right foot became infected.
the dog should be cooked and eaten and the owner made to partake as punishment for not controlling her dog

Some PRCs will entice the dog to bite.

why not?
it's not the size of the dog.. it's how hard the thing bites
spitz are beri protective dogs towards their owner... though I've heard of cases that those in singapore tend to be more "crazy" somehow...
maybe the weather or the environment?

stress?

maybe the dog can feel the stressness of his owner, thus feel stress itself also......
Well, it's the owner's fault for not controlling her dog.
After all, it wasn't as though the victim was provoking the dog or anything.
It was this Niu Niu that dashed out and attacked the victim's dogs.
once again PAP makes money from people getting injured or dead.............they make more than the victims !

plus dat dog is bigger, mongrel sized and dont look like jap spitz.
How old is your classmate?
Is 2k compensation enough for his medical bills?
Imagine how many new dogs she can buy with 5k..
both also suay.
I am staying opposite that estate and often take a walk around that estate in the morning. Thus, I heard of this news too.
What the newspaper didn't mentioned was the part that Mr Prathap Thamy kicked the Japanese Spitz Cross and the dog could have probably kicked him in an act of self-defense.
Furthermore, during my daily morning walk in that estate area, I still see an Indian guy who always wear black sunglasses (which I believe it's Mr Prathap Thamy from the description from the newspaper) scrolling along the same street with his two dogs for a few times recently despite having bitten before. If he is really serious injuried, why is he still attempting to walk his dogs in that estate? Is he trying to provoke this Japanese Spitz Cross again? "Once bitten, twice shy" -> Probably don't work for everyone.

Yes newspaper never mention a lot of things like how the dog attacked first and it was him who fought back out of self-defence, don't twist the story around.
As for once bitten twice shy, if you have the guts, go up and ask him why he carries a hockey stick around which I am sure he will very willingly explain all your questions in person because it's easy for you to talk him down from behind a monitor screen.
NW has his points.
normally a person wont walk the same route where he was 'attacked'. thats a normal human reaction.
.
Normally If this kind of cases I'd probably whack the dog to death.
This kind of dogs who goes all out and bite humans should die. No matter how much the owner begs me. This kind of cases compensation should be more than 3k though.
Originally posted by Blueflowers69:What you all do not know is that his estate has many owners with bigger dogs who have left their gates opened. He takes the path of least chances and where there is only a single dog at the front of the house. So I see no reason in why he has to change his route. He has nothing to provoke anyone. If you let your dog out for whatever reason, the fault is the owners, that is that. No such thing as where he should walk or should not walk.
if you dont get it you dont get it.

I can empathise with the victim but rule no.1: since when has the world changed for one man?
If you are talking about a neighbourhood who keeps dogs and their gates often open, then perhaps you shouldn't be rearing these furry pets. If not, shift to another place, ultimately it's your decision to adopt these pets. When they get attacked, owner bears a good degree of responsibility....why did you even subject them to such risk?
Alternatively, get a rottweiller and your dog should be the safest since he's the biggest and fiercest.
