INFORMATION technology technician Derek Li is left with a crushed foot and had to have three of his toes amputated after the front wheel of an off-duty SBS Transit bus crushed his foot in an accident outside Hougang Plaza on Nov 29 last year.
Mr Li, 27, was crossing a road junction when the traffic lights turned green in his favour but the bus failed to stop to give way to him.
His three toes were amputated by Dec 12 last year. He has been in three hospitals since the incident, and does not know when he can be discharged.
Mr Li is expected to be able to walk again using both feet but must wear a special shoe fitted for his left foot. Currently, he needs the help of a wheelchair to negotiate longer distances.
SBS Transit's corporate communications senior vice-president Tammy Tan said the company is helping Mr Li with his medical and hospitalisation expenses.

He lucky he survived
The driver deserved to get the boot though for this.
Yeah.
friend of mine.
So sudden and ai wan.
Some drivers ought to be disciplined. Seriously.
Today's bus I took, kept missing the stops although people had pressed the stop button earlier.
The most serious overshooting caused a girl to fly down the aisle as the bus e-braked. And its the bus with steps in middle somemore. I dont know if she should be thankful that she flew down the steps and hit the grab-pole bcos otherwise she would have fallen flat on the floor.
And the asswipe driver didnt even offer an apology.
driver can be tired lah

I'd like to see you say that if your toes get crushed by a bus driven by an errant driver.

Of course its hard to loose parts of a body
It will take time to get over it but then again, what happened had happened
It can be worse
SBS must compensate big time but then this is PAP-land where citizens have no human rights so most likely he can kiss his career and life goodbye.
SBS people will tell him ''better luck next life!''
sad. this guy is a edmw-er. he post his foot photo in edmw. very jialat.
Many years back, I was waiting for the traffic light to turn green. One young kid rode a motorcycle and accidentally knocked into another kid (who was standing beside me). That biker kid kept on apologizing and even rode the motor away. I shouted and chased after that biker kid but I was unable to out run the motorcycle.
I'm still unable to out run a motorcycle currently.

no need to out run motorcycle
just take a piece of wood and jam it into his wheels
then see him fly

you mean you are still running after that biker kid? :)
i said this many times and i am going to say it again.
dont cross the road just because the traffic light is in your favour. always make sure the vehicles at the front have already stopped or nearly stopped before crossing. i see lots of people acrossing the road once the light turn red. most dont bother to check if there are any oncoming vehicles. accidents do happen. but it happened not just because the motorists were careless or errant. it happened because pedestrians were careless too.
its meaningless to be right after the accident. you get compensated. so? you but you're hurt!! worst is if you arent compensated.

eh, to do that, you have to look for a piece of wood, then approach the bike. you still have to at the very least run as fast as the bike to do so.

if you do that you will be put away for a long long time.
