THE rising cost of living, driven partly by higher food prices, is expected to soar further in the first three months of this year before moderating, Finance Minister Tharaman Shanmugaratnam cautioned in Parliament today.
But some relief for Singaporeans hurt by the quickening inflation is in store: the upcoming Budget next month will contain measures to help shield them from its impact, he promised.
'The Government will take into account the impact of inflation and the needs of low-income and retiree households when considering further transfers,' said Mr Shanmugaratnam.
The minister also hinted that existing assistance schemes such as the ComCare Fund - now holding $800 million - may be enhanced to provide more buffer for the needy.
'Apart from the Budget... we've got ComCare and other schemes which will allow residents who are truly in need to get assistance,'he added.
Inflation in Singapore hit 3.8 per cent in November from a year ago, the largest jump since January 2009.
so ministers' salaries must be raised to help them with inflation..............
the poor and the weak must starve and suffer so that ministers don't have to.............
forget about any help from Govt in the form of food subsidies...........despite the ''booming'' economy.........
PAP : '' all poor S'poreans must buy new pants while they still can..............pants at smaller sizes since the peoples' waistlines will be shrinking................also good chance to lose weight..............''
I rather hear that our salary soar
its better news to see rising singles and divorces...the failure of a gender system
upping the GST to help the poor.
economy grew by 14%, so its "reasonable" for cost of living to grow proportionately too.
but where the **** is my 14% growth in pay?why my pay seems to be the only thing that is not growing, with the exception of banks' savings interest rate.
14% growth = increase ministers' pay only.............
that's the price you pay when you vote for those PAP vampires
Inflation or growth?
When price up, food also up.
Pple get squeeze, once price up, no way to go down.
The good news is.....the S$ will keep rising to counter the inflation. More holidays abroad? Good for singaporeans who work overseas earning S$.
Higher prices means more money from GST.
Woohoo.
More help for the poor.
Making the situation more worst.
rise the GST to 25% so that the poor and fucking poor would be rich and very rich.......
