Today lunchtime I spoke Hokkien to the apparently Chinese lady over the cashier counter. After I finish speaking, she answered "ä½ ä¸会讲åŽè¯å—?". Then I told her what I spoke in Mandarin, later I asked her what dialect she is. She told me "ä¸å›½" (as usual a lot of Chinese from PRC dun like to tell exactly where they are from). I asked what "çœ" la, and she finally told me she's from "ç¦建". I asked her which part of Fujian and she said she from "闽北" (bloody hell, still want to beat around the bush), so I asked her which part of Min-Bei, and she finally said "ç¦州那边". Kannasai, then I told her in Hockchiew "I also know how to speak Hockchew la" and she suddenly turned so happy and was so willing to converse with me in Hockchew and I wonder why she waste so much time in the beginning dun wan to tell me.
