Their willingness to speak Chiangchew Hokkien or Cantonese means they are not ashamed of speaking dialect at all !
They know dialect is just a language, their language and THE language.
Nothing low, nothing higher, nothing awkward and nothing special. So they just use normally.

A few weeks ago I met a Muar girl working at a sweet drinks shop, so afraid to speak Hokkien to me although I asked her she said she is Hokkien . Even Muar people are starting to be influenced by Singapore thinking that dialect is something to be ashamed of.

but if locals especially the young ones, they are complete detached from dialects. I wonder what the parents or grandparents are thinking?

A few days ago I spoke Hainanese to the lady hairstylist coz she said she from Hainan and married here 10 years liao and slowly slowly she start to converse with me in Hainanese also. Need some familiarization and training / warm up to use dialects again for many people.

The parents and grandparents had already been brainwashed thinking dialects is useless and not the $$$-earning language. This is mentality of CHINESE.

Sg tv programs are recievable all the way to Melaka, those Chinese within range in Johor and Melaka are more like Sg Chinese than their northern counterparts.

This shows Chinese is a group of people who are goonless, easily influenced, $$$-driven (or should I say 被錢牽著鼻å�èµ°) group.

to be truth, hokkien is a good commerce language. That's a waste. Many good idioms on commerce if know how to apply.

not only chinese, many in the world fail to understand what rich means. To many is the few extra digits in the account.
There is only so much one need.
Here I relate you what I really learnt from one native fisherman in Melanesia.
He asked me why I need to fish so much? I replied we can have some for the next few days. He then tell me why not let the fish produce more fish in the next few days and we can still fish the next few days.
Many of our resources are laid to waste for the extra digits in an account.

Yup, every dialects are different in their origins. If you look at politics Hokkien is the worst as we are never political orientated. Money over fame.
