MY WIFE and I, on two separate occasions, had unpleasant experiences at Ya Kun Kaya Toast cafe, which proved to be so unfriendly to parents with babies on its premises.
In the first instance, we were having coffee and toast at the Holland Village outlet with friends on a Sunday morning when our baby needed milk. We assumed it would not be a problem getting 50ml of hot water to make the milk, but the cashier said they could not provide hot water for free but would be glad to offer a cup at 50 cents. We were shocked but we paid as we were told it was company policy.
More recently, at the Nex outlet, our request to fill the milk bottle with 50ml of hot water was rejected outright. Staff at this outlet did not even offer to sell us the water.

hot water is getting expensive or otherwise?
It's one way to earn money I guess. There's nothing saying they must provide water to you. Having a baby doesn't entitle you to any extra rights.
If it is bad business sense to do so, it's their perrogative to still do so.
means baby is put at home 1
not for bringing out to shopping centres, restaurants, cinemas.....
wow...
now got baby means everything must got extra entitlement and privilage???
You not happy to pay can walk out mah....dun pay liao then kao peh...no one hold a gun to ur head to force u to pay for the hot water also...><"

Can afford to eat overrated and expensive toasts at Ya Kun, but cannot afford to pay for hot water??
Shameful indeed, and somemore is already a parent.
Nowadays Singaporeans are very capable of bringing ultimate shame upon their families.
These days, a lot of parents expect others to bend over backwards for them just because they have children
Even restaurants charge for iced water these days.
And they get upset when others get upset by their screaming running toyols, disrupting the peace and making a nuisance of themselves.
And I can never understand why must people bring young babies out. Don’t they find it a pain and hassle to lug a newborn around
ahhh, wait till u see those pushing baby pram ard de... but the person that is pushing will always look elsewhere instead of straight and they expect u to move out of the way...
The only consolation, Macdonald still offer a small cup of cold water for free.
Get it while you still can.
Who knows, if by any chance Macdonald scholars happen to see this, they might just charge for that bloody small cup.

I don’t want to be racist but the FTs of a certain race never fail to piss me off with how they push their pram.
Just the other day in NTUC, the father was pushing a huge ass pram and the mum the trolley
They have to use BOTH to block up the ENTIRE aisle while they take their time to slowly browse through some items.
I mean how KNN is that.
Actually come to think of it, even kopitiam charge money for ice water and hot water...
Anyways, to add on. Almost every Major shopping centre has a baby room (Near the rest rooms).
There are hot water dispensers and diaper changer beds over there.
Jurong Point for example has such a facility. Doesn't NEX have?

Doc: How may I help you today?
Patient: Heart very painful, I think got heart attack 10 mins ago, so I come down to see doctor.
Doc: The pills is about $45, you got bring cash because today the Nets station spoilt, cannot accept nets.
Patient: Huh, my wallet only got $40.
Doc: Sorry, company policy, must pay in full. If you are healthy enough to walk down here, you can definitely walk back home and take the other $5 and then come back later.
or use your mobile to ask your friend or family to bring the other $5.
next please.
The person who post this at ST forum sounds so noob. A cup of water (with a piece of lemon) in it will cost $1.50 at a restaurant. So u want a cup of hot water must pay. NO exception.
the high electrical tariff is to be blamed.
Cheapo = Drink from tap.
What's wrong with that? Its potable anyway.
1 - when in people's house, follow people's rule
2 - if you got problem with ya kun, why you keep going to ya kun?
3 - we know that you love your new baby but every time you bring your baby out with you, its an inconvenience to the rest of us, whether its in the MRT, shopping mall, food court or ya kun. Please keep yourself and your baby at home
