THERE has been so much hype and praise for Apple and its products. Unfortunately, the appeal of Apple products is fast dimming for me.
I tried to use my new iPad with no success until I discovered that it had come with a faulty cable. The service centre did not even have a replacement cable and requested that I wait for new stocks to arrive. To save myself the trouble of making another trip, I bought a new cable.
Giving Apple the benefit of the doubt, I recently bought another iPad for my son. After a few weeks of use, the charger stopped working. It really makes one wonder whether in the mad rush to make its products available to the public, the quality checks were severely compromised.
The last straw was when my AirPort Express would not work, even after two trips to the service centre and three calls to Apple's online help desk. I got a different explanation each time and the after-sales staff seemed clueless about their own products.
