A 22-YEAR-OLD motorcyclist who attempted to bribe a Traffic Police officer on Sunday was arrested.
The motorcyclist was riding along the KJE with his helmet strap flapping when Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Ang Kok Yong signalled the rider to stop.
After SSgt Ang had explained to the motorcyclist that he would be booked for not securing his helmet properly, the motorcyclist took out two ten dollar notes and offered them to SSgt Ang in return for letting him off.
SSgt Ang immediately rejected the bribe and placed the rider under arrest for attempting to bribe him.
The case has since been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cheang Keng Keong commended SSgt Ang for upholding a high level of integrity. He said, 'I am proud of SSgt Ang who has held true to the core values of the SPF. SSgt Ang is an exemplary example to his colleagues.'
