12 & 14-year-olds arrested for trying to rob an old man

  TWO youths, aged 12 and 14 years of age, have been arrested for trying to rob an elderly man.

  The 79-year-old victim lodged a report with the police on early on Tuesday morning, saying two unknown boys had attempted to rob him at Block 124 Ang Mo Kio Ave 6.

  While the victim managed to fend off his attackers, he sustained a swollen left eye and minor injuries in the process.

  Later on Tuesday, police patrolling Ang Mo Kio St 31 spotted a group of youths gathered around a barbecue pit, who fled upon seeing the police.

  Police gave chase and detained a 12-year-old boy, who turned out to be one of the two who had attacked the 79-year-old man. Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of his 14-year-old accomplice on Wednesday morning.

  The two suspects will be charged in the Juvenile Court on Thursday.

  They are curious and yes lack of guidance from family members.

  Hopefully there will be more police patrol or volunteer patrols all over spore.

   

  Spore is getting lots of young punks who love to fight and rob pple.

  actually got 2 kind of such patrols.

  First, the RC neighbourhood watch, where RC members volunteer for free to patrol the neighbourhood.

  the second one is more troublesome. it is known as the VSC, Voluntary Special Constable, a.k.a part-time police. you have to commit to a 9 month twice-weekly course, and will graduate to be a police officer with full police powers. But the allowance is only $3.60/hr.

  $3.60, really is a little bit of money from the govt.

  The vsc is kind of making the public turn off. I mean why go for such a length course?

  We need volunteer to patrol...not to patrol and chase the gang and catch the gang.

  Only $3.60 / hr? That is so low, I expect around at least $6/hr.

  I think the problem is that parents these days don’t teach their kids

  Neither do they set a good example for their kids at all

  I have actually witness too many incidents on parents teaching kids inconsiderate behavior

  Poor old man, could have suffered fatally from the attack. I think it's time for underaged criminals to be subjected to the same punishment/shame as those over 18.
