FOR about five months, Soo Ee Hock had surreptitiously filmed under the skirts of unknown women with a black camera pen clipped to his laptop bag while travelling on escalators.
By the time the 36-year-old sales manager was caught in July last year, he had captured 201 images of women's undergarments at various locations including Ang Mo Kio Hub, Compass Point and Junction 8 shopping centres.
Yesterday, Soo, who is married, pleaded guilty to 12 charges of intruding into the privacy of women by video-recording 'upskirt' images. His offences came to light after an unknown woman at Junction 8 in Bishan alerted a cleaner that a 'pervert' was trying to record upskirt images. Two security officers tailed and detained him as he was walking towards the carpark at Basement 1.
He was arrested by the police.
A black pen, which has a USB port and a pin-hole camera that can capture videos and sounds, and a Sony CD-R were found on him.
From Nov 11, 2008 to March 25 last year, Soo had used the pen to take upskirt videos of unknown female subjects at various locations. His modus operandi was to clip the pen to the side of his laptop bag, go up an escalator, switch on the pen and place his bag under the skirt of the unsuspecting female in front of him.
