A 30-YEAR-OLD man was sentenced on Monday to fines totalling $212,000 or to a jail term of more than two years for several custom offences.
In June this year, Singaporean Yeo Hock Leong pleaded guilty to 20 charges of incorrect declaration of value of 79,262 mobile phones imported into Singapore. The remaining 78 charges were taken into consideration.
The Goods & Services Tax evasion exceeded $182,000.
Yeo, the director of Vision Your Gadgets Station, was also convicted for one count of abetting in the offence of obstructing Customs officers in the seizure of goods, and one count of failing to retain trade documents.
Two of Yeo's employees - Ong Soon Leng, 30 and Cheng Zhiyi, 26 - were also convicted for obstructing customs officers when they came to seize the goods.
Both men were each fined $6,000 or in default, three weeks of imprisonment.
Painful experiences....
Not really. They might have smuggled more earlier on? Who knows?
