Road blocks were put up at Zion Road, Havelock Road, Outram Road and Ganges Avenue.
Two women were among those arrested, whose ages ranged from 22 to 57.
The number of drunken drivers caught so far this year is 2,650. Some 20 per cent of that number were involved in accidents.
None of the 23 arrested on Saturday was involved in an accident.
There has been a 7.4 per cent increase in arrests of drunken drivers involved in accidents in the first 10 months of this year, compared with the same period last year.

no lah.
you have always been saying "election is coming".
You so fast forget already ah!!!
when punishing them. let the 23 of them drink liquor and then do the pole merry go round. then ask them to drive at night in a cornerd off stree and meet each other bang at cross junction. if they can break in time to avoid accidents altogether then they deserve to live and will wake from their drunken stupor near the door of death. if they die then they deserve it and will know how many other innocent people they can harm besides themselve when drink driving.for this tyope of drink drivers the law sg should be more creative
Why so many drink driving on the roads?
The police / lta should asked themselves why.
Why pple still dare to deink drive?
What is the reason behind it?
Do the current punishment is not enough to deter the drink drive?
And employing road blocks and manpowers involves costs and time wasting.
Do the police / lta really want to see predestrain get killed by drink driver then take action?
I personally feel that the punishment to too light.
Amend the charges to:
1) Ban for life (driving licence) Is a MUST.
2) Longer sentencing (min 1 year)
3) Plus fine (min $10k)
hope more drink drivers crash to their doom
Up the liquor tax.
Up the fine.
Confiscate the car.
