Casino: Raise entry fees, ban foreign workers

SMALL-TIME gamblers such as foreign workers cannot afford to lose ('It's off to the gambling tables on their days off'; last Saturday).
They have come to our shores to earn a living so as to escape the poverty trap at home. Instead, they are now headed for a gambling trap which may spell their doom.
Gambling is addictive. The Government must do more to discourage this vice. To prevent both Singaporeans and foreign workers from falling prey to the gambling trap, the entrance fee to both casinos could be raised to $500 per day and $10,000 per year.
Besides the option of self-exclusion which might not work, foreign workers could also be banned from casinos.

How come casino do let the white collar in? Shouldnt they impose a higher entry fees for them?
For blue collar foreigners, no problem cos they earn few grands. But for white collars foreigners, that is the worrying part.

yes lor, they left those floor traps in, they lose money and rob kill create more problem for sg. those on employment passes strictly should be denied entry to casinos. those on visitors passes only with tour agencies should have a separete pass or document issued to show before entry to casino. otherwise they can stay after lossing money and commit theift and crimes here again and the victims are our poor sgreans again kanabu jibai whose idea for a casino anyway?!

Oh, so now our country has to worry how foreign workers spend their money too? Who cares how they spend their money? They chose to come here, they better learn what is discipline, or do they need our govt to teach them? Absolutely pathetic.
So whose problem issit if foreign workers turn to crime to supplement their gaming debts? Can't be the govt right, it wasn't their idea to build the casinos?

i think raising levy for locals up to $500 is not going to help, gamblers will always want to gamble, in fact raising it higher may lead them to raise their stakes while playing inside and cause them to lose more than they afford to, or they may resort to illegal means to circumvent the levy, like using a foreigner's passport to enter....
Banning foreign workers just because they are foreign workers sound somewhat discrimination, what if some of them only enter and bet little like $5 each time just for a few rounds....even if they don't go casino they will also spend it on drinks or whatever right...
maybe the govt can do more to help problem gambling which it is alrdy doing now to help them and more educating the public for a long-term solution.....

What was the whole point of building the casinos in the first place? To bring in more revenue? From where? Case closed.

foreigners when lose money will affect their working performance. esp those lowly paid ones. theya re suppose to come here and work, sure one of two of them can tell you they will millions there and can pack up and go home but many will lose. and they will resort to crimes or suicide meaning more work for our police and more crimes on our streets. if they victimes are floor trps i don;t care but sgreans i hate it! then why sg have to band some locals entering? what is the point of building casino then? only the guys in white knows.

Foreigners are so bad.Why do they want to come to Singapore ? They should go back to their own countries -
Dont think it going to increase the enterance fee.

Lots of jb pple comes to gamble.
I heard that they gamble only few hundreds the most. And if they win one to two hundred, they stopped and change cash. They smart jb pple.
