With more than seven million visits annually, it is Singapore's most popular park, with an extensive stretch of beach. When managing the park, the National Parks Board (NParks) must consider the diverse interests of users. It caters to the needs of families, and those who want to enjoy the experience of being by the beach, by opening up access to the beach and providing a range of dining options.
It also caters to those who want high-energy pursuits through attractions such as the cable ski park and Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast Park.
To achieve a better balance in the diversity of recreational offerings, the park is categorised into different zones of activity. Marine Cove is located in the zone that caters to the family. NParks is mindful of the dining and recreational needs of park-goers in our plans to upgrade the Marine Cove area.
These will be catered for even as we preserve the open spaces and beach ambience that many visitors have come to love about East Coast Park.
To facilitate a smooth transition for the businesses at the Marine Cove area, we are offering the tenants a six-month extension after their lease with Rock Productions expires next March.
The extension will give almost a year's lead time, in addition to the one-year extension from March this year, to make plans for their businesses.
