This huge volume of smoke was seen coming from Resorts World at Sentosa on Wednesday (May 27) at around 12.40pm.
STOMPer Cindy was in Vivo City when she took a picture of the thick smoke billowing upwards into the sky.
A spokesperson for Resorts World at Sentosa told STOMP:
Â
"A pile of polystyrene foam caught fire at the Resorts World at Sentosa work site on Wednesday afternoon.
"The fire was contained and put out by construction workers using fire extinguishers before the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived. There were no injuries or damage to the work site.
"SCDF officers who arrived on site deemed it suitable for construction work to resume. There is no impact on the construction progress.
"The construction workers’ quick response to this incident validates fire-fighting and worksite safety procedures that Resorts World at Sentosa and its contractors have drawn up, and practise, regularly.
"RWS considers work-site safety to be of utmost importance and additional safety briefings for workers have been conducted following the incident."
