Yeah! Let's see the face of the righteous, self-indulgent, 'the world owes me a seat' pregnant woman!
There are soooo many pregnant ladies around and even more who have been pregnant before. I've heard my colleagues and friends complain of how tough it was to stand whilst taking public transport, but I've never detected such maliciousness and bitterness in any of them! They all take it as something they just have to live with, and they all appreciate the times when they are given seats. But none of them have ever been this bitter! I guess basically, they are all happy to be blessed with child and they gladly take the suffering in their stride. They do not have the entitlement mentality.
This is why I am really against STOMP.
Those people who post these sort of pictures on STOMP really need to be taken to task. For one thing, we don't even know whether what they say may be true, or it was just a simple misunderstanding, or they are trying to 'sex up' a personal experience for the sake of sensationalism.
Even if what they say is precisely true, then I say that STOMPers who post such pictures have a very twisted sense of morality. If the people in the pictures are guilty of the moral crimes they have made, then I say that STOMPers who post such pictures are just as guilty for publicly humiliating people online and starting smear campaigns against them.
I have absolutely no objection to the posting of pictures of monkeys at MacRitchie or waterspouts off Changi. But the way STOMP works, without even the moderators taking action against such flagrant violations of privacy as was the case here, then I have nothing but contempt for STOMP.
The idea of stomp to me is to avoid it as much as possible.
Actually, it is not right for us to base our judgement on one video clip alone.
Sometimes, people who need the seat, do not request for it in the proper manner.
Instead, they demand, shout, threaten, chase people away to get the seat.
It takes two hands to clap.

I believe that STOMP started out to feature interesting sights and sounds, perhaps things that are of genuine human interest too.
Somewhere along the line, it has degenerated into a blatant disgrace and general disregard for common sense, truth and decent human behavior. And of course, why not, distract the masses by banal issues and turn the local websphere into a place for flames, trolling and unsubstantiated arguments..
Is STOMP still in existence because at the basic level, it may allow for the MSM to achieve a consequential increase in reputation for "traditional reporting"? I wonder.

Which is why it is the job of the moderators and administrators at STOMP to stop the nonsense before it has a chance to grow out of hand.
If the MPs want to lament about the lack of ability among netizens to conduct self-policing, then they need not look further than STOMP for an example.
Some may argue that such posts help raise awareness about courtesy and behaviour in public, but I can charge that it may well be counterproductive.
Just a few weeks ago, while I was on a crowded No.95, a pregnant woman (on her way to NUH, I guess) turned me down when I offered my seat to her.
I really couldn't help but think then..... what if:
1. Some fella boards the bus later on
2. He sees a pregnant woman standing next to me while I'm happily sitting down
3. Assumes that I'm being self-centred and ignoring the pregnant lady
4. Takes my photo, and smears me on STOMP with the headline 'Self-centred student ignores pregnant woman standing next to him'?
actualy... ... i think as mod of sgf stomp... .. i should oso say dis... ..
Stomp is a "copyrighted" name... ... hence, i think all should stop critising stomp... dey do wad i dc...

Very good point. I really dislike it when I offer my seat to the elderly and they reject my offer. And then, like what you said, the passengers who alight later on will think that you are being inconsiderate.
why the h3ll u even take her picture... cant u juz ask for it politely? u think u pregent very big? ya maybe ur stomach area very big but then there are many pregnent ladies aorund the wrold who didnt get their seats too.. and did they complain like u? and why u even post her picture here? seriously i hope u get sued by the lady for being suck a complain queen.. and im sure if u were her u wont even giv ep ur seat too...
dun say until this women is that bad... im sure if u would to ask nicely, she would have given the seats to u... but instead u were the idiot who went and provoke her into scolding u.. and she was absoutely right for scolding u for kicking a big fuss outta a seat?
so i think u should bring a portable chair wif u next time then u can sit all u want instead of trying to embrass other people but in actual ure embrassing urself...
im not trying to say ure wrong but the approach u took to get a seat is really retarded.. and u brought urself the scolding..
as a pedobear, unborn children works for me too but back to the topic
people who take pictures of others without permissions are arseholes, period.
if i were that woman, i'll pray that you will not get to have your baby
but then again, i really like children......... such dilemma.
End of day, all of us are just angry with the photo-taking right?
with almost all phones now armed with a camera, how to ensure that we won't be stomped without us "committing" some crime.. well, you won't know until your picture appear on stomp or any other website..right?
and, in this case, it is about SMRT seats. so two issues right?
rather than bitching/cursing, how about giving suggestions/solutions?
1) why don't we remove all priority seats from all MRTs, and instead, just put two carriages in the middle as "specials", just for the elderly, handicapps, pregnants, and those with children/pramps?
So the rest of us can happily go filled up the rest of trains, and we can drool, sleep, put our feet, put our bags, and revert to our normal lifes.
2) All moderators will not allow immediate postings, for such posts with photos. But allow, a few days for investigations before allowing it "online". Most times, people after some considerations may reconcile their thoughts and deems such posts as trivals and remove them. So there is a "cooling" period.
So until then, I hope that we stop cursing pregnant ladies,or their unborns.. cause rem, you are borned the same way too.Surely, you don't want the curse to rebound onto yourself or family, right?
Owned.

Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow,
an undeserved curse does not come to rest.
it's estrogen, the source of all pleasure and misery
