Ricardo Carvalho's Portugal were knocked out by Spain
Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho says he is desperate to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid this summer as he wants to play for the "best club in the world".
Carvalho has enjoyed success under Mourinho at both Porto, where he won the 2004 Champions League, and Chelsea, where the Portuguese defender won the 2005 and 2006 Premier League titles.
It appears the 32-year-old is now seeking a new challenge and the lure of playing for Mourinho at the Bernabeu is too much for Carvalho to resist.
"If there was a possibility to sign with Real Madrid, I would go there right now swimming or running," Carvalho told AS.
"It would be a dream to be able to play for Madrid, which I consider to be the best club in the world, and follow the orders of the best coach in the history of football.
"With Mourinho I experienced two marvellous stages at Porto and Chelsea. To have the opportunity to win another Champions League with him at Real Madrid would be tremendous."
hmm..so now everyone think RM can win the next CL huh..
hmm..
Real only lost out to barca by 1 pt.
with mourihno their defence will definitely tighten. they have a very good chance of winning la liga.
if mourihno could win the CL with inter i dont see why he cant win it with Real. its only matter of time. if not this year, then the next.
this carvalho lao liao la.....he wun make it in la liga.
ya lor so old still wan go RM
guti going Turkish Club
raul go Schalke 04
but the problem is...
real n barce always put their men so upfront n their def is v bad..if not for iker.. real would concede alot more goals..
gonna be interesting to see how they change their gameplay next season...
Ya... O.K, exchange Calvalho for VDV & alonso!
lol.
i think he will leave though
but now alex is injuried....
I think Real might actually consider him if he is free... With Real having miss out on Vidic, Carvalho might actually be good for them as he is still a very good defender. The good thing about Carvalho's game is, he is like a Rio kind of a defender and not like a Terry type. His strength in defense is in reading how the ball will be played during a match rather than just brutal force... Such defenders career usually last longer than those whose strength is speed and brutal force only...
To be honest, I personally think he is still better than any of the current Pool defenders be it Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Ayala or even Agger...
History: Jose Mourinho and Ricardo Carvalho having enjoyed success in both England and Portugal
Jose Mourinho has given the clearest indication yet that he will be reunited with Ricardo Carvalho at Real Madrid before the start of the season.
The Portuguese pair worked together at Porto before the manager moved to Chelsea in 2004. Carvalho duly followed that same summer in a deal worth £19.8m and has proved a sturdy foundation ever since.
However, after six years at Stamford Bridge the defender has revealed his desire to move on, claiming that he would go 'swimming or running' to the Bernabeu if his former mentor came calling.
And it seems the feeling is mutual. When pushed on Spanish TV as to the likelihood of a deal, Mourinho said: 'I always said that Carvalho is one of the best in the world. We'll see what happens.'
Carvalho, who turned 32 in May, has seen his place in the Chelsea come under-threat from the younger Alex and Branislav Ivanovic.
Mourinho, though, is unconcerned by the player's advancing years.
He is in the period of his greatest maturity,' he added.
Hitching a ride: Carvalho revealed he has a deal in place with Chelsea should Real Madrid come knocking
Carvalho sat out the second part of last season with ankle ligament damage as Chelsea romped to their first ever 'Double'.
He said earlier this month that an agreement was in place with Chelsea that allows him to find a new club this summer.
'If there was a possibility to sign for Madrid, I would go there right now swimming or running,' he said. 'It would be a dream to be able to play for Madrid, which for me is the best club in the world.
'Chelsea have a commitment with me to let me go this summer, for reasons which those responsible at the club and I know.'
