But it could cost Manchester United £35million to prise the Dutchman away from Inter Milan.
Fergie is desperate to find an attacking midfielder in the Paul Scholes mould.
And although the United boss does not have a huge transfer kitty he sees Sneijder as the ideal player to sit in the 'hole' behind striker Wayne Rooney.
Sneijder, 26, only moved to the San Siro from Real Madrid in a £13m switch a year ago.
The 5ft 7in star helped win Serie A, the Italian Cup and the Champions League under Jose Mourinho - and has now scored four goals to lead Holland's march to the World Cup semi-finals.
New Inter boss Rafa Benitez had a fierce rivalry with Fergie during his six years in charge at Liverpool.
But the Spaniard is determined to build his own side at Inter.
He knows unless he brings in his own men, any success will lead to cynics claiming it is still Mourinho's team.
Off-loading Sneijder would also put Benitez in pole position to raid Anfield to sign Javier Mascherano.
i like him.
26years old still got 4 good years ahead......very good free kick taker..
i hope he score later.. haha!
i fancy him too. when he was thrown out by real madrid i hoped rafael will buy him to replace alonso. and obviously smart deal isnt in rafael's book afterall.
i tink he is likely to join united
Ya, unless Rafa dun wan him ..
i say.If thats really true..then its too late and fergie's too short sighted. He was readily available when madrid went thru their 2nd transfers revolution (Kaka, ronaldo, benzema era)...He could have moved on a cheap price back then..Was really hoping united would snap up him on the cheap..but fergie did not.Continue relying on oldie's,failed to look for a successor and new playmaker for the team.
Now on the back of a successful championsleague and WC campaign,..i wonder how his price has sky rocketed man!...
i agree, his price tag wont be cheap after such a world cup performance. i think will shoot at least up to 22-25m in the current market rate.
later Rafa sell him for Lucas
