reason being,
both matches are being played at the same time.
the result of either game will affect each other.
why would you want two threads if their both inadvertently gonna talk about the same thing being which team progresses?

Me think so far the best goal is Luis Fabiano's 2nd goal vs Ivory Coast. 2 handballs in the buildup to the goal and not even the refree or linesman spot it. Best part is after the goal, the refree can be seen jogging back to centre circle with Luis Fabiano, smiling and seemingly asking "was that a handball before you scored?".
This is better than Maradona's Hand of God...
