Valencia star winger David Silva is keen on a move to Chelsea.
Silva, 24, is one of the hottest properties in football – and is being eyed by Real Madrid and Manchester United as well as Chelsea and Manchester City.
Silva, who is set to play for Spain in their crucial World Cup clash against Honduras tomorrow night, is being tracked by Roberto Mancini at City but will snub Manchester for a move to west London.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: ‘‘Chelsea have established themselves as one of the best clubs in Europe over the last five years.
‘‘They might not have the history of Real Madrid or AC Milan but the truth is they are creating their own history now. If they carry on in the way that they are, there is no reason why in the future that Chelsea can’t be as decorated as Real Madrid.
“Chelsea probably have, along with Barcelona, the best squad in football and if any player joins Chelsea he knows he is going to win things. In players like John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba they have players who would get into any team in the world.
“And it would be a pleasure to play with them.”
villa also leave liao... he really should leave too..no point staying at valencia anymore..that club is GG already..
chelsea should be good for him...feed drogba
In demand: Silva is set for City move
Manchester City have agreed a £29million deal with Valencia for Spain international David Silva. The 24-year-old, who had also been courted by Real Madrid and Chelsea, is now expected to finalise terms on a four year contract worth around £160,000 a week.
City delegates have been in Spain to iron out the deal amid concerns that Chelsea may step in at the eleventh hour but are confident everything is now in place.
They plan to team the silky midfielder with Yaya Toure and James Milner in a revamped side geared not just for Champions League qualification but a title push.
City are still searching for a right-back and will add a striker too before the end of the window but Silva has been a priority, as revealed in Sportsmail last month.
The one-time Mancheser United target had been keen on a move to Chelsea but they were unwilling to match cash-strapped Valencia's valuation.
