Arsenal have moved nearer to a deal with Lorient's Laurent Koscienly after the centre-back begged his club to let him join the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger is keen to pair the Frenchman with Thomas Vermaelen but Lorient are holding out for £10m despite signing Koscienly for only £1.5m last summer.
Koscienly’s agent Stephane Canard said: "Laurent told the Lorient president and coach that he wants to move to Arsenal come what may.
"We have held talks with them, and with a sell-on clause inserted in the deal we are not far off agreement."
