Joe Cole said to have signed an £80,000-a-week, three-year deal before flying out to South Africa with England’s World Cup squad
England midfielder Joe Cole has signed a contract to join Arsenal, Goal can reveal.
The midfielder put pen to paper on an £80,000-a-week, three-year deal before flying out to South Africa with England’s World Cup squad.
The sensational free transfer has been kept under wraps by both parties because the agreement is dependent on Cole being able to prove his fitness when he returns from the World Cup.
Goal understands that Cole was put through his paces in a basic medical on Monday of last week, which was enough to convince manager Arsene Wenger to tie him to a deal that wards off other clubs.
why doesnt wenger sign ballack on a 1 year contract to offset the void left by fabregas if he were to join Barcelona.
this news is the real deal.
ballack was never an option. his presence will dis- stabilise abou diaby improvement. his style moreover doesnt suit arsenal way of playing football. third pt, his wages are way to high for 34.

You might not understand, but sometimes it's a matter of principle... If this is indeed true, then since he was already on $80k at Chelsea and his contract ended, he expected to be rewarded for his loyalty... And since Chelsea were not willing to offer him what he wanted having seen the likes of Lampard, Terry, A Cole all got what they demanded and also more than what he is currently asking from them... So I guess he might feel they don't value him enough...
As for Arsenal, a club who hardly pays top dollar, he might feel they really value him highly to make him one of their top earners along with added performance-related bonuses...
Sometimes it's not just the money, it could also be the thought of being wanted or valued that matters...
cannot like that say leh.
the thing is chelsea is gonna cut down its wages budget. sadly but joe cole is the one to be started with.

Yeah lah, it has to start somewhere... Just unfortunate for Joe... But you can't expect him to understand also lah... He might feel why not Lampard, why not Terry or why not A Cole... But why me, right?
