This weekend, Dutch international Arjen Robben will return to one of his old stomping grounds with Bayern Munich to take on Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final.
As the night looms ever closer, the former Real Madrid man took time to reminisce on his short time in the Spanish capital, describing his last days at Santiago Bernabeu as ‘ridiculous’.
"It was a ridiculous situation at that time,” Robben told Goal.com of his final days as a Real player.
“They said only: ‘We want to sell you because we need money.’ The football aspect was not talked about there, only the financial aspect was relevant to those responsible.
On the one hand, they saw that only Wesley Sneijder and I could bring money into the club, on the other they have spent huge amounts.”
Finally, the former Chelsea man spoke of his great friendship with former team-mate Sneijder, who will face off against eacho ther this weekend as both sides gun for a historic treble.
"Wesley and I are very good friends,” he said. “We are in regular contact, even this week. I'm happy for him that with him in Milan but hope he will not win the treble that we want." -

And i think i read somewhere that Pellegrini actually wanted Sneijder and Robben to stay as they are part of his plan but they were sold off anyway to service Ronaldo's, Kaka's, Alonso's Mammoth transfer fees.

u cant spend like this when the club has no money. its like the greek debt isnt it. RM is heavily indebted now. -
Real madrid needed the money ? And they bought so many stars this season.... seems like a trap. I think real madrid is one of the richest. Just T-shirt sales alone.... just immagine..
