Juventus Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon Set For Arsenal Move

Gianluigi Buffon has been tipped to leave Juventus and join Premier League side Arsenal, according to Sky Sport 24.
After nine years with the Old Lady, Buffon is set to pack his bags and head for the north London club.
A dreadful league season, no Champions League, three managerial changes, three presidential changes and a worse goals against record than relegated Atalanta have got the alarm bells ringing for the Italian international.
Two weeks ago Buffon said his intention was to remain in Turin, but that he wouldn't mind moving to England should the club decide to part company with him.
And it's in the Premier League where he has the biggest following. Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are all keen.
United are looking for an alternative to Edwin van der Sar, while City are relying on their millions to attract Buffon.
But he recently said they were not considered a big enough club, and their failure to qualify for the Champions League has also put a downer on any move.
Thus it's Arsenal who remain in pole position. It's no secret they need a goalkeeper, and Buffon's experience fits the bill for Arsene Wenger. -

Arsenal might have the funds for Buffon but i'm quite sure United need to raise the money to get him. And should United sign him, will we see a Buffon vs Van Der Sar II? Afterall, Van Der Sar was sold off cheap to Fulham when Buffon was signed from Parma.

if buffon comes, I think he can save arsenal at least 5-10 points in a season. maybe they can be BPL champion if that is the case.

i think to play in CL is like a personal ambition and achievement.
you can win in la liga, bundesliga,EPL,seria A, but maybe club not good enuff to win CL. so you can see the toughness to win in. just to be part of it is itself already a kind of personal achievement especially if u know, you are good enuff and maybe one of the best in the world.

if buffon comes, he is the best goalie for many years to come. cech is sadly a pale shadow on his former self before his head injury, but he is still good.

Cech only needs to take off his head guard to increase his confidence.
With the head guard, I got a feeling it deducts his confidence.

Cech cannot remove the guard if he wants to cont playing. Buffon for arsenal is good but wenger is stubborn and would insist to stick with fabianski and almunia. Cause getting Buffon now would stop fabianski progress as well as mannone's. Furthermore arsenal cannot afford Buffon though he still would have at least a gOod six yrs left. I would prefer a green or hart instead. Arsenal needs English players.

No head guard = -10 to confidence & goal-keeping ability. -
woo... my favourite keeper.. buffon ... old liao but still good... def better than any arsenal keeper.. it would be v good for arsenal to have him ...

Buffon is great goalkeeper. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world after Petr Cech. Arsenal should be able to buy him, unless they can coax Oliver Kahn out of retirement...
