  Chelsea boss Ancelotti backs veterans: No need for squad overhaul

  Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has indicated he doesn't need to overhaul his ageing squad this summer.

  With the club on the brink of the first league and FA Cup Double in their history, Ancelotti believes that this current group have answered questions about their collective age and does not foresee any need for a significant summer spending spree.

  "I don't think it's necessary for us to spend a lot of money," he said. "I said that at the start of the season, that I was happy to have these players. I really do have a very good squad."

  don't be surprised Ancelotti sign some of Milan's old farts too...............

  Chelsea need to lose at least 1/3 of the squad.............

  I don't think Chelsea will make many signings. Maybe probably a good striker to come in.

  Probably will see players like Belleti & Ballack pretty certain to leave Chelsea.

  Belleti back to Brazil.

  Ballack back to Germany.

  Carvalho also might become fringes of the first team since Alex had did pretty well.

   

  Next season should be capable of watching 2-3 new youngsters playing in and out of the first team like Mancienne/Stoch and maybe Jack Cork

  ballack, joe cole, ferriera, deco, hilario, belleti should leave.

  cech is getting from bad to worst.

  and there are so many aging players.

  and i am not impressed with ancelotti.

  Cech needs motivation :/ He was the one who saved Chelsea from going down 5 or 6 nil down.

  I think Drogba should even leave. He is kinda getting inconsistent and not even performing when required.

  Yeah Cech did well last night and together with Roman Pavlyuchenko's poor finishing, Chelsea kept their goal difference advantage...

  big clubs (except arsenal) like to reward players for their loyalties.

  drogba wont leave chelsea.

  Ancelotti is not very successful in terms of winning titles.. Even with his top AC Milan side whom dominated the noughties prior to Barca.
  
  But I feel he should be given at least another season to prove his worth. Remember, even the great Sir Alex Ferguson took a couple of seasons before he start dominating the Premier League. He was almost on the brink of being sack actually.
  
  Ancelotti needs to be given some little bit of time to build his squad. Fergie can win, can dominate due to his presence at the club for so long, he got the influence, got a very big say in what players he want to fit into his system. Man Utd's players are the players he wants, they play the system he wants them to play.
  
  Ancelotti unfortunately might not have the time as Fergie had, neither wuld he have the luxury of buying the players he want, to fit the system he wants to play. Now that itself is already a big disadvantage in terms of competing with Fergie.
