Richard Keys of skysports host raised this issue. is it fair? can we debate on the merits of the away goals rule?
Maybe away goal encourages the visiting team to attack, so why not?
of course it's good. why not?
when teams win by away goals rule, they support the ruling
if team lose by away goals, they will kpkb
maybe penalty kicks to decide is a fairer way?

Away goals are a fairer reflection of a team's true abilities.
Penalty kicks are more of a lottery. A weaker team can simply try to hold out for a draw and try to win on penalty kicks.
away goals rule was implemented so that the visiting team attacks instead of sitting back.
"The away goal rule ensures that a match will only go to penalties under the very specific circumstance that both sides are drawn with the same number of away goals. Since it is generally harder to score in the other team’s stadium, this rule remains less arbitrary than deciding a match based on how many times the goalkeeper guesses the right direction in a series of penalty kicks.
To cite the old cliché: it is still a level playing field. Each side has the chance to score these weighty goals. A 2-1 away loss becomes a decent result. A clean sheet at home becomes a serious advantage. And that 93rd minute blast could just be enough to make the walls come a-tumbling down in your own house.
The away goal rule may prove eternally frustrating for those whose European dreams are undone by it, but it remains the best way to break a tie and reduce the number of penalty kick shoot-outs supporters must endure."

home teams sit back only when they have done their job away from home.
so its up to the other team to do their job.

away goals rule was implemented because people just sit back and defend against the home team who attacks
if they tahan 0 - 0 then they will try to win at the other fella's place while that guy will just sit back and defend.
away goals rule gives the away team benefits for scoring goals
Mathematically, I think away goals are counted as 1 and a half goal instead of 2 goals. And yes, away goals should weigh more since it is a symbol of a psychological impact the team receives when conceding a goal at home as it is supposed to be harder for the visiting team to score when you are playing in your own backyard/fortress.
whats wrong with away goal?
i think is a great choice rather than to have the pain to watch extra time or watch penalty.
do not chg e rule..
i, myself, believe tis rule suits soccer perfectly..
Do away with away goals rule.
Draw is a draw. Win is a win.
The team sit back, will get hammer.
That will make team to attack and go for a win.
Also do away with peanlty kicks.
After 30 min if still draw, another 15 min and so on. Till someone score 1 goal.

it doesnt make a difference. away goals rule only kicks in if the aggregate score is a tie.

i bet you have never watched how the old arsenal won matches and titles.
defend and defend until full-time, extra-time, then penalty kicks. super boring team until wenger reversed it.
AGR should be applied throughout all FIFA-sanctioned knockout competitions, even for the English promotion playoffs.
looks like TS still cant get over the CL match between BM n MAn u ?
lol...
good good away goal rules stand .
Away team must attack to add more entertainment .
if no such rules , mgr will adopt a simple parked a bus there to be on clean sheet .
It is very clear that this topic is started because Rooney9's favourite Man Utd lost on the away goal rule.
People, why patronize him by replying to his question? He is a young English League and Man Utd supporter. Let him learn and come to realise by watching his favourite team's defeats that Man Utd does not have a divine right to claim every trophy that comes their way. Man Utd fans do however, have the rights to demand that they do so.
An added incentive for away teams to attack in their opponents' home mah... since the home team can leverage on their home ground support to attack in the match... not fair meh
away goal rule has been around for sometime... why wait till now to debate on the merits ? Time to move on...
