Alessandro Del Piero admits he is still hoping to earn a place in the Italy squad for this summer's World Cup.
The 35-year-old Juventus captain has played in the last seven major tournaments for the Azzurri, although he is not currently a part of the international set-up.
But despite having not been in Marcelo Lippi's plans since 2008, the experienced frontman believes he can still make the plane to South Africa.
"The call-up is the consequence of what you do in the league," he said.
"My concentration is exclusively for Juve. I hope the coach's choices will be the best for Italy and I hope to be part of that group."
Juventus are currently trying to move further up the top end of Serie A and secure a place in Europe next season.
The Old Lady were knocked out of the Europa League by Fulham earlier in the campaign and Del Piero is keen to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League next term.
He added: "In our mind we have only the aim of the fourth place.
"This season is not going as we wanted and so the judgement can't be positive. But we are optimistic."
