O’Neill ‘quit’ sensation

MARTIN O'NEILL has admitted he could quit Aston Villa at the end of the season.
O'Neill is frustrated with fans' criticism and wants showdown talks with owner Randy Lerner. He declared: "I'll sit down with Mr Lerner at the end of the season and see where we are placed.
"If, by the end of the season, it has turned out pretty well, great.
"If it hasn't, I will assess things with the chairman, who is my employer. If the fans are disgruntled I will take that into consideration. The chairman will have a big say and I will have a say because it is my life."
O'Neill's outburst comes in the wake of growing complaints from fans which snowballed after Saturday's 7-1 thrashing at Chelsea.
He has no long-term deal with the club, insisting on a 12-month rolling contract.
O'Neill was stunned to find himself at the centre of rumours he had quit on Tuesday following a bust-up with Lerner. He added: "Mr Lerner was quite surprised and wanted to know who had given the go-ahead."
