Expensive: Alberto Aquilani cost Rafa Benitez £20m from Roma last year
Alberto Aquilani has revealed he is still struggling to learn English and admits he must improve his language skills in order to make the most of his Liverpool career.
The 25-year-old Italy midfielder arrived from Roma for £20million last summer, but has since struggled to break into the Anfield first team through injuries and poor form.
And Aquilani has now admitted he is struggling both with learning English and the weather. He does insist, however, that he is happy at the Reds and wants to succeed for the club's supporters.
'I don't speak English very well,' he admitted. 'Now I understand more than I did before but I have to improve.
'I am not having regular lessons at the moment. At first I did but it has been difficult more recently and my English teacher is angry about this.
'It has been difficult because at one time my family were here so I couldn't do the lesson, another time we had too many games and sometimes it just feels too much.
'But I like everything in England, I just don't like the weather. I like the people, the supporters, the city and playing here. And I want to play well here.'
TICKING OFF ... Aquilani is in bother with his English teacher
The £20million Liverpool flop is not getting to grips with the lingo EIGHT months after landing in the UK from Roma.
Italian midfielder Aquilani, who hates the weather here, even admits he has not bothered much to improve his language skills.
He said: "I don't speak English very well. Now I understand more than I did before but I have to improve.
"I'm not having regular lessons at the moment. At first I did but it has been difficult more recently and my English teacher is angry about this.
"It has been difficult because at one time my family were here so I couldn't do the lesson, another time we had too many games and sometimes it just feels too much.
"But I like everything in England, I just don't like the weather. I like the people, the supporters, the city and playing here. And I want to play well here."
He not only need ticking off, he needs some kicking off IN THE BALLS badly
FUCK LIVERPOO
besides, torres and reina, alonso, most of rafa buys are basically flops.
considering the nos of players he has sign, the success to failure ratio could be a staggering 10% nia!!
arsenal on the otherhand, has few flops.
the one i can think of is the jap, junichi miyomoto or something.
i also think theo walcott is not living up to his expectation.
the Jap is Inamoto..........Wenger bought him so as to generate interest and money from Japan...........he's a commercial decision.................
hope Liverpool will sell Aquilani back to Roma for less than HALF the price they paid...............profit for Roma !
