Shawcross was a youth player at Manchester United and made one senior appearance before joining Stoke for £2million.
His challenge on Arsenal's Ramsey brought fierce criticism from the Gunners as well as a red card. But Ferguson, who has phoned Shawcross, said: "There's no more honest boy in the world.
"One thing I'm pleased about is that everyone has recognised it was an honest challenge. Everyone.
"Even Arsenal will do that now, or I hope they do. It was one of these terrible accidents that happen in football.
"Arsene Wenger was feeling for the player, quite rightly. I'd be the same if it was my player."
it was definitely an accident. but seeing a player launching such an tackle at such high velocity withoput even sure he was going to get the ball was definitely reckless.
most of the accident on the road are by accident and not intentionally. do Dr ionescu intended to knock someone down and causing grave injury to others. but due to its recklessness and irresponsible, he cause death and serious injuries to others. can we forgive him? arsenal fans deserve better protection from the referee.
if you can player proper football, and resort to dirty tackles like that, what the pt of being a professional footballers? i can understand defensive tactics, time wasting etc. but tackles like that are unresponsible and definitely reckless n brainless.
