  JUVENTUS will make an £8million summer bid for Liverpool's Martin Skrtel.

  The Italians - who had also targeted Reds boss Rafa Benitez - are looking for a stopper to replace the ageing Fabio Cannavaro at the heart of their defence.

  They believe the Slovakia international fits the bill as a no-nonsense defender with the ability to organise the backline.

  Skrtel joined Liverpool in 2008 for a £6.5m fee from Zenit St Petersburg and Juventus are willing to bid close to £8m to land the defender.

  The hardman defender may welcome a summer move if Benitez leaves Liverpool.

  Juve are enduring a poor campaign in Serie A and will look to rebuild during the close season.
