Liverpool defender Daniel Agger believes "things are starting to turn" for the club.
However, the Dane knows they face a constant battle to claim a place in the top four this season after some indifferent form.
Liverpool face Bolton on Saturday at Anfield after having to settle for a point against struggling Wolves.
The result, though, was enough to move them into fifth spot and extend their unbeaten league run to five matches.
Agger told LFC Weekly: "It's a really tough challenge this year. "There are more teams competing than normal. "We have a lot of work to do if we want to finish in the top four. But that's our aim. "I think things are starting to turn for us. We have to keep winning because there is a lot more work to do.
"There is no point looking too far ahead, all we have to do is concentrate on the next game." The 25-year-old is at a loss to understand why their standards dipped.
He added: "Injuries haven't helped. But there are a lot of good players in this squad. If someone is out we should be able to cope. "We haven't been good enough and we all know that. I don't think any of us here will ever hide from that or say it isn't true.
"What we are doing is giving our best to improve our position. We want to get back on the right track as soon as possible."
