  Man Utd spend Qatar trip in £1.2 billion takeover talks

  Manchester United are the subject of £1.2 BILLION takeover talks.

  The Sunday Express says that while Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson took advantage of the warmth of Doha last week to fine tune his players, there was feverish work going on behind the scenes.

  Aware that Qatar, with their bid for the 2022 World Cup in mind, has gone football crazy, feelers were put out by United’s owners the Glazers about attracting Middle East investment – or finding a potential buyer.

  United’s short stay in Qatar provided the Old Trafford money men with the perfect opportunity to attract fiscal interest in the club.

  Oil and gas reserves have transformed the country into one of the richest in the world.

  It is seeking a higher profile identity and sees sport as the vehicle to help meet that ambition.

  They were looking for cheap deals mah City cost them only $100m... Pool would cost $400 to $500m without a big stadium somemore so have to add another $300m for building stadium... United would have cost $1b... So of course take City lor... Cheaper mah... lol...

  Man Utd dismiss Qatar sale talks

  Manchester United insist they're not in sale talks.

  The Daily Star says United last night issued a terse “not for sale” response to reports that a consortium in Qatar is trying to buy the club.

  It was reported United had explored interest in a potential £1.2 billion sale.

  This deal was quite hard to belief actually, The Glazers it seems are not out to sell the club or why even bother with the bond issue... United is a money making club and they know that, over the years there has been rumour of Chinese and now Arab offers... why would they want to cash in now? Unless they really need the money which I am guessing they don't.

  United is capable of creating cash inflow of 30-50 million pounds within the next 7 years. There is no reason to sell this cash-cow at all.
