Former Gunnners: Flamini left Arsenal for free in the summer of 2008 could join Spurs
Tottenham are set to make a shock move to bring former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini back to north London.
Flamini has struggled to command a regular place with AC Milan this season and has been asked to play out of position at full-back.
The French midfielder is desperate to play first-team football in a bid to keep his hopes of a World Cup place alive.
Reports in Italy suggest Tottenham have made enquiries about the talented midfielder - with manager Harry Redknapp ready to bring him to White Hart Lane.
Flamini produced the best form of his career playing for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger was desperate to keep him, but he ended up leaving on a free transfer.
Redknapp is keen to strengthen his midfield and will have money to spend if he manages to offload David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko in the January transfer window.
Flamini has not ruled out a return to England and is determined to show his best form playing in his favoured midfield position. Flamini said: 'I don't want to play as a full-back, I am a midfielder.'

Well, you dont get much O'Shea and Essien these days, players who have played in every position, (yes, O'Shea as keeper once before. ). They are more concern about their earnings and reputation thats all. There's no such thing as joy in playing football anymore in this generation.
how many ex arsenal player really excel playing for other clubs?
sol campbell, henry, flamini, helb, reyes, anelka( chelsea was the turning pt for him), hoyte, bentley( maybe excel in blackburn),petit, vieira. most of them didnt play as well as when they are at arsenal.
fabregas, havent you seen enough of their advice?
