Everton are struggling to secure Louis Saha to a new contract.
The Daily Mail says out of contract at the end of the season, the former Manchester United striker has requested around £60,000 a week.
It would make him the club’s top earner, and while there may be a willingness to raise the pay ceiling, no agreement has been reached and there are some concerns over the return Everton could count on for their investment.
After seeming to have put his injury worries behind him, Saha has again been dogged by fitness problems and is currently on his way back from a hamstring strain.
He has managed three consecutive starts only once all season and, having returned to training this week, faces a late fitness test ahead of today’s game with Arsenal.
