Liverpool hope to bring Argentine ace Maxi Rodriguez to Anfield in the next 48 hours.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder has been told he can go after falling out of favour. And last night, Rodriguez's agent Jurgen Milewski admitted a move is close to being finalised.
Milewski revealed: "I can say the chances of a transfer are high." Atletico would like the Reds to sign Rodriguez, 29, on a permanent basis for a knock-down price as he can leave for nothing in the summer when his contract expires. But Liverpool want to take the star on loan for the rest of the season with a view to signing him if he is a success.
And with Rodriguez - who is happy to take a cut on his £85,000-a-week wages - keen to chance his arm in the Premier League, that has swayed things in Rafa Benitez's favour.
Argie giants Boca Juniors are also eyeing up Rodriguez but will not pay a loan fee - something Liverpool are quite prepared to do - which leaves manager Benitez in pole position.
i hope his produces this for pool
this is the first good news for a very long time..
He's good but age is catching up with him. Benitez shouldn't have let Pennant and Gonzalez go if he decides to switch back to wing play again. Or maybe because he has seen enough of Kuyt running around like headless cockroach on the flank?
Swap shop: Spurs will offer David Bentley in their attempts to sign Rodriguez (R)
Tottenham Hotspur are ready to rival Liverpool in a loan bid for Atletico Madrid’s Maxi Rodriguez.
The midfielder also has an offer from Boca Juniors. Liverpool appear to be favourites but Tottenham could propose a loan deal for David Bentley as part of the package.
Dynamo look like pipping Moscow rivals CSKA for Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin. Napoli and Juventus are in for Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena.
Napoli are interested in Tottenham left back Gareth Bale as an alternative to Dossena.
How much is Liverpool offering? Bentley's bid looks more awesome....
lolx

Targets: Benayoun and Riera
Olympiakos have been rebuffed over an inquiry for Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun but will return with an offer for his team-mate Albert Riera.
The Greek side have offered around £5million and wages of £40,000 a week tax free for Israeli Benayoun but Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will not sell. He may be swayed on Riera, who has failed to capitalise on a good first season at Anfield.
‘He can’t leave Liverpool because of the snow,’ said Roberto La Floria.
Agreement: Chamakh
Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh’s representatives held talks with Liverpool yesterday over signing a pre-contract agreement.
Atletico Madrid’s Maxi Rodriguez is expected to agree terms with Liverpool over the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, misfit striker Andriy Voronin is expected to join Dinamo Moscow for £1.5m.
wow songsong voronin can sell for 1.5m!!
If Voronin's going to be a misfit, then Chamakh will follow suit
having voronin is an insult to the club

This Youtube can sometimes be quite misleading... If we all didn't know Voronin was how good, we might start to think he is worth at least $20m after watching this clip...

Here Andriy Voronin is like wah... Better than Torres... lol...

Alot of factors affect how good a player can be. Culture, teammates, teamstyle, the player himself, etc
Maybe one player can be a team's heart and soul but he can be shit in another.
Whatever happened to Chamakh going to Arsenal?
yes zocoss i agree with you.. but you will have to see the performance level too..
for example player A and player B.
Player A score 20 goals from tap ins.. headers etc.
Player B score 5 goals.. but from his own skill.
you should get my drift eh..
furthermore you can search like..
rooney top 50 goal.. but you cant search voronin top 50 goal right? :P hahahah
but i also disagree with liverpool signing chamakh, what they need now is a big strong striker. like hulk. not some small speedy ones. we already have torres.
but if they do buy chamakh, i believe 10million pounds would be his price tag.. not more than that..
rafael is looking to get chamakh for free.
he wants this fellow to sign a pre-contract for now.
I wouldnt say he is not good, but would he suit the bpl style and more importantly, fit into pool's current system?
liverpool got system one meh?
