Glen Johnson is facing up to three months on the sidelines after injuring his knee in Liverpool's victory over Aston Villa, reports the Daily Mail.
The England right-back was forced off late on in the 1-0 win after damaging the medial ligament in his right leg and was assessed by the club's medical team at Melwood.
A club spokesman said: "A scan today has revealed a tear in the medial ligament in Glen's right knee. The player will see a specialist tomorrow, after which we should be able to more accurately determine the length of his rehabilitation period."
Maybe its a blessing in disguise... Cos after he step out of the Villa match, Pool scored and won...
He's off form at the moment, will he recover in time for World Cup?
Maybe it also be a blessing in disguise for England if he don't recover...
Lolx
He is the weakest link as right back as he cannot defend well.
Good that he is out so that some other defenders can come in.
The next one is Lucas.
Glen Johnson: Injured in this challenge with Gabi Agbonlahor
Liverpool defender Glen Johnson will be sidelined for at least a month due to a knee problem but the club are seeking a second opinion before placing a definitive timescale on his recovery.
Despite lingering fears that the injury could prove a long-term one, Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will only confirm that Johnson will miss at least the next four weeks of the season.
The club have opted to send the England international to another specialist before elaborating further on his rehabilitation period.
"Johnson has a problem, so he'll see a specialist and then we'll talk but we know he'll be out for at least one month," Benitez told the club's official website. "But we are waiting for another opinion and then we'll know how long."
If Johnson is sidelined for longer than a month then he could miss the Merseyside derby against Everton on February 6 as well as Liverpool's trip to Arsenal on February 10.
Following his £18 million transfer from Portsmouth in the summer, Johnson has made 17 Premier League starts for Liverpool.
