Real Madrid president Florentino goes for Man Utd’s Vidic

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is a big money target for Real Madrid.

Marca says while Real president Florentino Perez wants to land a world class striker next summer, he is also in the market for a new centre-back - and Vidic is his priority target.

The Serbia international is keen to open new contract talks with United, though has so far been stonewalled by the Premiership champs as he still has over two years to run on his existing deal.

Vidic has also been the subject of intense interest from Real's great rivals Barcelona.

Porto stopper Bruno Alves is back on the agenda of Manchester United.

Marca says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sees Alves as a direct replacement for Nemanja Vidic at the end of this season.

Vidic is a top target for Real Madrid and has also been linked with Barcelona.

Alves attracted a serious offer from Manchester City last January and Ferguson has pumped Portugal coach and former United No2 Carlos Queiroz for information on the powerful centre-half.

Ronaldo key as Real Madrid confident landing £20M Man Utd defender Vidic

Real Madrid are convinced they can land Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic for £20 million in June.

The Daily Mail says having signed Cristiano Ronaldo in a world record £80million deal in June, Real now want his former Old Trafford team-mate and sources in Spain claim they will make a £20m offer for the Serbia defender at the end of the season.

Vidic’s future at United has been in doubt for some time. His wife Ana is known to be keen on a move to a warmer climate and he has been linked to some of the top clubs in Europe, including AC Milan, Inter, Barcelona and Real.

United thought they had done well to keep Vidic last summer, with Sir Alex Ferguson adamant that he would not sell his central defender so soon after sanctioning the sale of Ronaldo.

The two players became close during their time together at United and it is no secret that they discussed the possibility of linking up abroad in future.

I hope Fergie gets a replacement before he sells, if he chose to sell Vidic that is. United is short at the back with defenders made of sticks and glue. So fragile!
