  Liverpool Resume Pursuit Of Aston Villa's Emile Heskey - Report

  

  It is being widely reported in the English media that Liverpool are once again in the hunt for Emile Heskey, the Aston Villa and England striker.
  
  The former Red has been linked on and off with a return to Anfield over the past 12 months, and The Mirror claims that Rafael Benitez is eager to bring him in this winter as an alternative - or partner - to Fernando Torres.
  
  However, 'El Nino' himself recently outlined the problems the Merseyside outfit face in snaring the right players, the chief concern at the moment being finances.
  
  While the board has backed Benitez in the midst what is fast becoming a horror campaign, The Times reports that the Spanish tactician must sell before he can buy.
  
  Ryan Babel, Andriy Voronin, Andrea Dossena and Philipp Degen are all understood to be hovering near the exit door, all four having failed to make their mark in the Premier League so far.
  
  Bayern Munich's Luca Toni and Real Madrid's Ruud van Nistelrooy are also reported to be on Liverpool's radar.

  ASTON VILLA are ready to fight off Liverpool in the race to land £12million-rated Kenwyne Jones. 

  Sunderland will listen to offers for the Trinidad ace, who has seen his thunder stolen by Darren Bent this season. 

  Villa, Liverpool and Everton have all been alerted to his availability but SunSport understands that Martin O'Neill is in the box seat to nab the 24-year-old striker next month. 

  He has bagged 23 goals in 70 Premier League games, including six this campaign. 

  But red-hot Bent is now the No 1 striker on Wearside and with manager Steve Bruce keen to land a new forward, Jones could be on his way out.

  Liverpool can't afford him. On a side note, Goran Pandev has succesfully terminated his contract with Lazio, meaning that he is now a free agent. He demands a weekly wage of 30,000 and this can easliy be met by Liverpool. But in an interview with a Macedonian TV channel yesterday, he has confirmed that he will most likely move to inter in the next few days despite a strong offer from England. Who knows? Might have been Liverpool. Pandev and Torres upfront would be lethal.

  Stoke boss Pulis willing to smash transfer record for Sunderland's Jones

  Stoke City boss Tony Pulis is ready to offer a staggering £10 million for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.

  The Daily Star says Pulis wants to offer Jones an escape route and is preparing a substantial bid for the Trinidad & Tobago international.

  Pulis is desperate for a high-profile signing in January as he battles to guide the Potters to a second successive escape from relegation.

  And he is set to almost DOUBLE the previous record of £5.5m for Dave Kitson with an ambitious bid for 25-year-old Jones.

  Jones play more like Adebayor rather than Drogba in my opinion and i dont think Liverpool need him. Liverpool need a forward that can make decoy runs, chip in occasional goals, fast and nifty striker. Think Tevez and Villa.

  Robbie Keane was that forward for them. Look what happened to him.
