Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that his side possibly paid the price of two tough games in three days after their 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor.
“We have an obligation to play these games so soon and maybe we paid the price after the performance at Anfield” Wenger told Sky Sports.
“It’s disappointing to drop two points, we had the chances to win the game but Burnley we committed focused and played very well, it was like a cup game. The pitch also didn’t help us”
Captain Cesc Fabregas was on target for the Gunners, but was forced off early with an injury and Wenger concedes the Spaniard could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
He added “It’s too early to really say how long he will be out for but it does look serious. He definitely won't be fit for Saturday’s game against Hull”
Graham Alexander grabbed an equalizer for Burnley from the penalty spot as unlike Wolves at Old Trafford last night Owen Coyle fielded his stronger side. Something Wenger feels you should always keep to, so the league is kept competitive.
The Frenchman said "I was watched the game last night and was disappointed to see the team that Wolves put out. In this league you compete in 38 games not 37 but it seems last night it was 37”.
knn, blame the schedule again.
