Darren Fletcher admits he came close to leaving Manchester United last year.
Fletcher admitted he came close to walking out of Old Trafford because of his limited first team chances.
He told United We Stand: "There was a time in 2008.
"I went to see the manager and said: 'I've hardly played, boss'.
"He told me about my injuries, pointing out that when I had got in the team, I had then got injured for Scotland. 'These things affect what happens to you here,' he said.
"'Boss,' I said. 'I've got a year left on my contract. I know the club have offered me a new four-year contract, but that can work against me because the club can ask for any fee for me and other teams might not pay it.
"'I'm in a good position now because I only have a year left on my contract.'"
