Exclusive: Twente And AC Milan In Klaas-Jan Huntelaar Talks
The Dutch striker could be on the move again in the January transfer window...
Enschede side Twente are currently sitting atop of the Eredivisie table and the Tukkers are desperate to keep up the fight for the league title until the end of the season. After recently showing an interest in Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic, they have now set their sights on yet another high profile player.
According to a source close to Goal, the Dutch table toppers are eager to sign Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on loan until the end of the season. Both sides are believed to be in talks at the moment and the deal could be announced by the end of the week.
Even though the transfer appears to be unlikely to happen at first sight, several circumstances could make the deal happen after all.
Huntelaar is finding regular first team football hard to come by at Milan and has mainly been warming the bench this season. The striker could therefore be tempted to move on in January in order not to endanger his spot in Holland's World Cup squad.
The 26-year-old was already being linked with Ajax earlier this year, but the Amsterdam side lack the financial resources to make a move for Huntelaar.
Twente on the other hand are believed to be capable of meeting Milan's demands. The Enschede side cashed in on Eljero Elia and Edson Braafheid last summer, while their finances could get another boost in January if Inter make Marko Arnoutovic's stay in Milan a permanent one.
Huntelaar would replace Blaise N'Kufo at Twente if the deal materializes. The Swiss hitman has been less impressive than in previous seasons and is believed to be ready to make way for Huntelaar in order to improve Twente's chances of winning the Eredivisie.
