Blonde Oscar winner Theron is to co-host the 90-minute TV extravaganza that will kick-off the countdown to the greatest show on earth.
The show will be televised live to every corner of the globe as Theron joins FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke to sort the 32 finalists into eight groups of four for next summer's tournament.
The show will also feature England star David Beckham and Nobel Peace prize winner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu. And there is no doubt this sports-mad nation cannot wait for the World Cup. It is not so much a fever as a full-on pandemic.
Each airport has a sign telling visitors how many days remain until the June 11 kick-off. The countdown never leaves the corner of the screen of one of the many designated TV sports channels here in South Africa.
In big, red numbers, it is even in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, north of Johannesburg, where a 20-foot tall bronze statue of this country's most feted figure looks down on proceedings.
Rugby union and cricket are traditionally the main sports in South Africa. But they are white people's games, the sports of the minority.
Football rules OK here and, if you want to watch Rooney and Drogba and Fabregas and Gerrard, this is the country for you.
Every English Premier League match is shown, most of them live and the rest in their entirety but a little delayed.
The TV folk are calling Friday's draw the sporting event of the year. It is only the draw, for goodness sake. How will they describe the event itself?
The greatest single event in the history of mankind, perhaps? The hype knows no limits. Each city seems to resemble a building site in readiness for the World Cup.
The roads and infrastructure are being improved and tarted up to try to show South Africa as an efficient, sleek, emerging nation.
They even reckon all the stadia will be ready, too. Certainly the ground here in Durban is a magnificent, futuristic structure with walls that appear to be see-through and a vast roof that looks like a tent.
The big concern is that the host nation's team - known across the globe as Bafana Bafana - are hardly top class. But when they are eliminated the word is the locals will switch to Fabio Capello's boys because of their Premier League obsession.
Smart choice, both the Koreas in the same seeding pot lol
somehow i feel tat this coming world cup will hav lotsa upsets..
wa pot 1 so fierce..
Pot 1... South Africa...
I think all the others in pot 2, pot 3 & 4 are wishing to get into their group... Lets see who are the lucky ones...
Wait they get... France, Ivory Coast and Australia... Then we can say bye bye to SA...
south africa seeded I cant believe? what justification are there for SA to be seeded? being a host country? cant believe it FIFA wierd decision making.
south africa is the host nation. they have to get the advantage. thats because its thier homeground, and if they are kick out so early in the stage, what do you think of the world cup.
pot 2 is fully UEFA
pot 3 is north america/asia/oceania
pot 4 is south america/africa
while pot 1 is the best few nation by records and stuff.
no wonder
the kick-off to World Cup 2010. See you on 4th December 2009!
start 11:30pm
The Final Draw
Cape Town, affectionately known as 'The Mother City'
It is on that date, at 7pm local time, that the world will turns its attention to the Mother City like never before. The 2010 FIFA World Cup final draw show will be broadcast from the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) to millions of viewers across the globe. Many high-profile visitors from all corners of the world will attend the event itself. Celebrities, sports stars, world leaders and dignitaries will sit amongst the audience, eager to hear the draw results.
South Africa's FIFA World Cup narrative dates back some time, but from a football perspective it is the draw itself that will create the canvas on which the 2010 FIFA World Cup story will be written. Once the groups and match orders are revealed, the fates of the world's top 32 teams will be sketched out. Fixtures will be decided, opponents known and fans more desperate than ever for the arrival of 11 June 2010.

Come back again to check if it will be shown on other channels.
Ceremony starts today at 5pm. It will last about 90 minutes.
Cape Town International Convention Centre
Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron, who is South African, will host the draw. Others who will be involved include two-time Olympic gold medallist Haile Gebrselassie, South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini and their rugby World Cup-winning captain John Smit.
Michel Platini, Franz Beckenbauer, Eusebio and Roger Milla, as well as most of the 32 coaches of the qualified teams. Nelson Mandela will make a video appearance.
Each of the eight groups will comprise of four teams – one from each pot. As hosts, South Africa will automatically go into the first slot in Group A. No two teams from the same qualifying zone can be drawn together, except in the case of Europe, where the limit is two. So for example, Argentina could not be paired with Uruguay and South Africa cannot be in the same group as Ghana.

welcome to starhub cable tv.
One suggestion here. For those who don't have CNN, you can turn to channel 14 then press the mosaic button. (The one right bottom left on the remote) Cannot see but at least you can hear clearly what is going on and whose name gets pull out of the pot rather than wait for the internet updates right...
