Poor form: Benitez's Liverpool have won just one of their last 10 games
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reckons Liverpool fans are losing faith in their side, following a dire set of results.
Rafa Benitez's side have won just one of their last 10 games in all competitions and must beat Debrecen tonight and hope Fiorentina do not beat Lyon, to stand any chance of making it through to the latter stages of the Champions League.
Wenger admits he can sympathise with Liverpool, who have slipped 13 points adrift of Premier Legaue pace-setters Chelsea, but insists Benitez needs to win back the Anfield faithful.
'I have a huge sympathy for Liverpool,' he said. 'I can elaborate because first of all it is a hugely historical club.
Arsene Wenger (r) reckons Liverpool fans are stricken by 'fear'
'And I have a massive respect for their fans who, for me, have always been outstanding.'
Wenger added: 'I watched a little bit of the [2-2 draw at home to] Manchester City and their fans looked to be a little bit affected by fear as well because it was the first time I saw them a bit quiet.
However Wenger, whose side travel to Liverpool on December 13, added that last season's league runners-up have not had luck on their side.
'As well I feel Liverpool have been a little bit unlucky in the last six weeks,' the Frenchamn said. 'They do not get from the games what they deserve.'
