Benni McCarthy's agent has announced that the Blackburn Rovers striker will be looking to leave Ewood Park when the transfer window reopens in January.
McCarthy, 31, has started only one Premier League game under Sam Allardyce this season as the manager has preferred the likes of Franco di Santo, Nikola Kalinic and Jason Roberts, with David Dunn in a supporting role from midfield.
With first-team chances scarce at Blackburn, McCarthy is now considering his options and has articulated a desire to seek alternative employment at the earliest opportunity, according to his agent Rob Moore.
South African compatriot Elrio van Heerden, who joined Rovers on a free transfer from FC Bruges over the summer, also looks set to depart having made only one substitute appearance in the Carling Cup since his arrival.
"Yes, Benni wants to leave Blackburn," Moore told KickOff.com. "He has not been given the chance to show his worth this season in the Premiership and there's no denying that it seems like he is not the type of player Sam Allardyce is looking for.
"This has been a bad season at Blackburn for both Elrio and Benni - neither seem to be the kind of player that fits into the Blackburn system and both need to move on in January."
