Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing Ajax striker Luis Suarez.
The Sunday Times says Ferguson has carefully monitored the development of the Uruguay international, who at 22 already captains Ajax Amsterdam, having claimed 54 goals in 75 League appearances for the Dutch club. Suarez — also a regular scorer for his national team — has drawn comparisons to Ronaldo in his ability to play through the centre or on either flank.
Ajax are aware of Ferguson’s interest and expect a bidding war to develop, with Manchester City, Internazionale and AC Milan also involved.
Though Suarez has told Ajax he is interested in extending his contract, the club are unconvinced and recognise that they may be forced to sell.
“The technical management have to take this decision, but we are prepared to consider possible good offers,” said the Ajax general manager, Rik van den Boog. “We want to keep him until the end of the season, but we also want to make him happy.”
dutch league? be careful. good track record there doesnt guarantee it. look at huuntelaar and afonso alves.

Well, those you mentioned in your bottom line more or less played in the older dutch league when the PSV, the Ajax and even the Feyenoord were almost on level with the rest of European clubs...
On RVP, the only younger one on it... I think he has improve to his current level more because he has been at Arsenal rather than the Dutch league bring him up to this level... Just like if Ryan Babel develop well, could be in the Rvp league in the near future...
ajax has became somewhat of a selling club in recent years... their young captain vermaelen only cost 10m quids... lol
And who is leading the Dutch league currently? Its none other then former Boro manager Steve McClaren's Twente... This just shows that even an average manager can go there and be top dog... lol
The Uruguay international was linked with Manchester United yesterday, but admits he favours joining Treble champs Barca.
"I am proud that the best team in the world is fixed on me. It's recognition, but I have to keep a cool head and continue to grow in Holland," said Suarez.
"It would be a dream to play there. I'm doing things right and working to make the leap. Now I think only of finishing my development at Ajax, but I like this idea."

u have to be careful about south american players adapting to EPL. look at the dud players from south america fergie bought, like veron, forlan and kleberson, all flop except for tevez. 10m is considered a risk investment in him.

tevez was good, but sadly,his contributions were betrayed by his goal ratio.
Else, he would be a MU player now.

They are considered flops because they didnt do well in the epl, but some of them do well OUTSIDE of the epl.
