Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has backed summer signing Joleon Lescott to become a great player at the club despite an indifferent start.
Hughes paid Everton £22million for Lescott and it remains to be seen if the 27-year old can prove his worth at Eastlands but the boss is confident it will happen.
"Joleon is still a young player," said Hughes. "What I was talking about when he signed for us was the potential he had to grow as a player.
"The stage he's on now and the expectation level will enable him to fulfil the expectations he has for himself.
"I've no doubt Joleon will be an outstanding player for many many years and people will see that very quickly.
"What he's got is real determination to grow and develop, and if you have a player like that it's very easy to work with.”
