Prince Faisal reveals Liverpool talks in "final stages"

Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah says his F6 investment firm is close to buying into Liverpool.

Kop co-owner George Gillett has been in Riyadh this week and held further talks over selling his shares.

Prince Faisal said: "Our negotiations to buy shares in Liverpool are ongoing, meetings are taking place.

"We might be in the final stages in the coming days."

But sources close to Gillett's co-owner, fellow American Tom Hicks, insist they are still a long way off coming to an agreement with the Saudis, says The Sun.

Gillett and Hicks, who took over at Anfield in February 2007, have been seeking new investment at the club since refinancing some of its £290million debt in the summer.

F6 admit Liverpool talks now on hold

Saudi Arabian sports investment firm F6 have declared talks with George Gillett about investment in Liverpool have stalled.

The Sunday Times says Gillett’s visit to Riyadh last week sparked speculation that a deal would soon be reached with F6's owners, including Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah and Saudi businessman Majed al-Hugail.

"The purchase of a stake in Liverpool has not been discussed throughout Gillett’s visit," said F6 deputy managing director Gassim Hamidaddin. "The discussions are now on hold. The idea of buying a stake in Liverpool was put on the table in September but since then nothing happened."

I guess F6 want the bigger share of Liverpool.

They have to stall the talk so as to let Gillett lower his price.

Hope they can solve it before Jan 2010.

With God Daddy gone, Ah Ben can pack his bags also.
